Introduction

• Class equipments: Notebook/Desktop computer with camera and microphone, High-speed Internet

• Target age: 4th-12th grade (for the 2021-2022 school year)
• Capacity: 50 (first-come, first-served)
• Registration Fee: $150 ($120 for early bird by May 31st; $170 for late registration from July 1st) (workbooks, cultural activity materials, camp shirt included)
• We recommend an online payment (credit card, PayPal) over an offline payment (a personal check) for registration
• If you chose an offline payment, please print out the invoice of registration and write a check payable to "ECHO-Korea" with the registration invoice printed out to the following address:

Summary

The 2021 YKAA camp will introduce the impact of Korean people and Korean culture through various media to campers, providing them opportunities to think about their role as Korean Americans in the broader community. Campers will explore a variety of books for children/teens, articles & films about Koreans and Korean history and culture, to learn what impact they made in society. After completing the camp, campers will gain Korean role model(s) and develop a deeper understanding of how they can contribute to the global community.

Mission

• To enhance and empower students to understand Korean culture and history by providing an enjoyable and student-centered summer camp
• To encourage students to become excellent global leaders and citizens that share Korean history and culture with others
• To teach students to have a positive cultural identity by learning about the Korean spirit
• To raise future world leaders that will contribute to world peace

Purpose

• To provide opportunities for learning and understanding Korean history and culture for 4th~12th grade students in English
• To provide students with opportunities to enjoy summer vacation and develop life-long relationship and necessary social skills through working and learning with fellow classmates
• To develop and demonstrate strong personal communication and presentation skills
• To develop excellent global leadership skills

Camp Leaders’ Qualifications

Those wanting to volunteer as a camp leader can submit an application, by selecting "Apply" for "Camp Leader" field on the online registration form. Camp leader applicants should meet the following requirements:

• 9th grade and above (upcoming school year)
• Job Description: As a team leader, you will supervise team members, model appropriate behavior, assist camp preparation and group activities, prepare camp class activities to instruct in classroom, lead a group presentation.
• Register for this camp by May 31st, 2021, with a camp leader "Apply" selected on registration form
  
• Prior participation in a previous YKAA summer camp preferred
• Participating two leadership training sessions required (Online training July 17 2:00-4:00pm, In-person training July 24 2:00-4:00pm)
• Assignments will be given to camp leaders via email.

• 모집 연령: 4th-12th학년 (2021-2022학년도 기준)
• 모집 인원: 선착순 50명 (온라인 화상 수업으로 50명이 차면 마감)
• 캠프 등록비: $150 (5월 31일까지는 조기 등록 할인 $30 적용하여 $120; 7월 1일부터는 late fee $20을 적용하여 $170) (등록비에는 워크북, 역사문화 활동 자료 등이 포함됨) (등록 취소 시는 맨 아래 환불 규정에 따름)

Camp 개요

외국에 살고 있는 재외한인 학생들에게 대중미디어에서 찾을 수 있는 한국 역사문화와 한국인을 소개하고, 우리 학생들이 미래에 어떤 역할을 할 수 있을지에 대해 생각해 보는 기회를 마련한다. 특히, 학생들이 교실 현장에서 자주 마주할 책, 일상에서 접할 수 있는 신문기사와 영화에서 찾을 수 있는 한국역사와 문화, 그리고 다양한 미디어에서 두각을 드러내는 한국계 재외동포들의 활동과 한국의 역사문화를 세계에 전하는 그들의 역할에 대해 배워보고,  이를 통해 학생들에게 마음 속에 품을 수 있는  한국계 역할모델을 제시한다.

Camp 목적

• 초등 고학년 이상의 학생들에게 한국 역사문화를 이중언어로 바르게 배우고 이해할 수 있는 기회를 제공한다.
• 학생들의 눈높이에 맞는 활동 중심으로 한국 역사문화를 배우고 체험하여 재미한인으로 자긍심을 가지도록 한다.
• 의사소통 및 발표능력을 개발하고 향상한다.
• 다문화 사회 속에서 살아가는 동포 학생들이 학교와 지역사회에서 만나는 한인 학생 및 타민족 학생들에게 한국 역사문화를 바르게 알려줄 수 있는 지식과 통찰력을 가지도록 한다.
• 재미한인 정체성을 바르게 가짐으로써 다른 문화에 대한 긍정적인 생각을 가지고 세계 평화에 기여하는 글로벌 리더로 성장할 수 있도록 돕는다.
• 캠프를 통해 한인 학생 네트워크를 형성하고 문화적 유대감과 정서를 함께 나누고 교류하도록 한다.

Parental Consent 부모 및 보호자 서약

부모 혹은 보호자의 동의를 얻어 에코 코리아 캠프에 등록하며, 부모 및 보호자는 에코 코리아 측에서 정한 규칙에 따라 임무를 충실히 이행할 것을 약속합니다. 또한 캠프에서 일어난 어떠한 사고에 대해서도 교사, 에코 코리아, 산호세한인장로교회에 책임을 전가하지 않을 것을 약속합니다. 에코 코리아 캠프에서 찍은 학생들의 사진, 오디오 및 동영상 등의 모든 미디어 자료의 이용 권리를 에코 코리아 측에 위임합니다.
I/We as parent(s) or guardian(s) agree to follow the rules of ECHO-Korea Camp by registering student(s). I/We do hereby release ECHO-Korea leaders, staffs, SJKPC staffs and volunteer assistants from any liability whatsoever arising out of any injury, damage or loss which may be sustained by said person during the course of involvements with ECHO-Korea Camp. I/We give ECHO-Korea permission to use image, voice, and/or appearance as such may be embodied in any pictures, photos, video recordings, audiotapes, digital images, and the like, taken or made on behalf of all the ECHO-Korea Camp activities.

Cancellation and Refund Policy 등록 취소 및 환불 규정

• 7월 1일 이전에 등록을 취소하면 등록비 전액을 환불해 드립니다. 캠프 시작 2주 전까지 등록을 취소하면 등록비의 90%를 환불 받을 수 있습니다. 그러나 캠프 시작 1주 전까지 취소하면 80% 환불되며, 캠프 시작 전날까지 취소하면 50% 환불되며, 캠프 당일부터는 취소해도 환불은 없습니다.
• 환불되는 등록비는 ECHO-Korea 수표로 발행하여 등록된 주소로 우송해 드립니다. 등록 취소일로부터 4주 이내에 처리해 드립니다.
• 납부된 등록비는 다른 사람을 위해 사용될 수 없습니다.
• The full amount of the registration fee is refundable if you cancel by two weeks earlier than the event start date. 80% of the registration fee is refundable if you cancel by one week earlier than the event start date. 50% of the registration fee is refundable if you cancel within one week before the event date. From the event date, no refund is available for a cancellation.
• A refund check issued by ECHO-Korea will be mailed to you via First Class US Mail. (Please expect 4 weeks from the cancellation date.)
• Your registration is not transferable to another person.
