What do you know about Korean Americans?
코리안 아메리칸에 대해 얼마나 알고 있나요?
120주년을 맞은 재미한인역사가 우리 코리안 아메리칸 2세에게는 어떤 의미를 가질까? 우리 캠퍼들과 함께 재미한인역사를 과거, 현재, 미래, 세가지 측면에서 탐구해 본다. 1) 과거: 120년 재미한인 역사에서 주요한 사건을 배우고, 또 코리안아메리칸의 발자취를 만들어 나간 재미한인들에 대해 배운다. 2)현재: 오늘날 주류사회의 다양한 분야에서 활발하게 활동하며 한인의 자부심을 높이고 있는 재미한인들에 대해 인터뷰와 비디오, 역할극 등 다양한 방식으로 알아본다. 3) 미래: 내 가족의 재미한인사, 그리고 앞으로 20년이 지난 후의 나와 내 가족의 모습에 대해서도 생각해 보는 시간을 가진다.
What does the 120th anniversary of Korean American history mean for second generation Korean Americans? With our campers, we will explore Korean American history from three perspectives: past, present, and future. 1) Past: Campers will learn about key events in the 120-year history of Korean Americans and learn about Korean American figures who have shaped the Korean American legacy. 2) Present: Learn about Korean Americans who are actively engaged in various fields of mainstream society today, promoting Korean pride. Campers will learn through interviews, videos, and role-playing. 3) Future: Reflect on your family's immigration history and think about where you and your family will be in 20 years.

How did Korea become one of the top 10 countries in the world?(From Ramyeon to IT)
한국은 어떻게 세계 10대 강국이 되었을까요?
대한민국은 어떻게 세계 10대 강국이 되었을까요? 여러분은 한강의 기적이라는 말을 들어본 적이 있나요? 대한민국의 경제 발전이 매우 기적과 같은 일이라고 경제학자들조차 경이롭다고 표현합니다. 수업에서 학생들은 대한민국의 뜻을 알아보고 대한민국을 표현하는 단어들을 함께 생각해 봅니다. 한강의 기적이 일어난 지난 60여년 동안의 여러 경제 발전의 모습을 살펴봅니다. 경제 발전을 통하여 대한민국은 세계 최초로 지원을 받던 나라에서 다른 나라를 돕는 나라가 되었습니다. 또한 한류로 대표되는 자랑스러운 문화를 다른 나라 사람들에게도 나누어 주는 나라가 되었습니다. 이런 수업을 통해 우리 학생들이 재미동포로서의 바른 정체성을 가지고 자신의 모국에 관하여 긍지와 자부심을 가지게 되기를 바랍니다.
How did the Republic of Korea become one of the world's top 10 economies? Have you ever heard the phrase "Miracle on the Han River"? Korea's economic development is so remarkable that even economists describe it as phenomenal. In this class, students will explore the meaning of the Republic of Korea and come up with words to describe the country. They will learn about each stage of Korea's economic development over the past 60 years. Through its dramatic economic growth, Korea has transitioned from being a recipient country to becoming the first donor country in the world. It has also become a country that shares its beautiful traditional and modern culture, represented by the Hallyu wave, with people in other countries. Through this lesson, we hope to instill a sense of pride in our students for their own country and help them develop a proper Korean American identity.

How did K-culture become phenomenal?
왜 전세계는 K-culture에 열광하나요?
이 수업에서는 요즘 미국에서 유행하는 한국 문화에 집중해 보고자 합니다. 최근에 한국 음식, 한국 캐릭터, 한국 음악까지 미국인의 삶 속 깊이 한국 문화가 들어와 있다는 것을 새삼 느낍니다. 이 수업에서는 미국인들이 좋아하는 한국 노래를 듣고 그 특징을 찾는 활동과 한국 음악이 장르적으로 미국인을 비롯한 세계 사람들의 이목을 집중시켰는지 보고자 합니다. 또한, 최근 세서미 스트릿에서 최초의 한국인 캐릭터 "지영"에 대해 생각해 보고 디지털 콘텐츠에 진출할 한국 문화에 대해 함께 이야기해보고 토론하는 시간을 가질 예정입니다.
This lecture explores the current popularity of Korean culture in the United States, focusing on the global phenomenon of K-pop. Capers will listen to K-pop music, examining its unique characteristics and the factors that attract people to the genre. Additionally, the lecture considers the possibilities of digital content based on Korean stories, inviting discussions on cultural narratives and storytelling techniques prevalent in Korean entertainment.
