The first day of the 2013 YKAA Summer Camp ended successfully with 25 students and 7 teachers. It started with a "Dokdo is Korean Land" song and dance. All students eagerly participated in learning the dance and song.
2013 YKAA Summer Camp의 역사적인 첫 날을 즐겁고 의미있게 잘 마쳤습니다. 캠프에 참가한 학생은 25명이고 교사는 7명입니다. '독도는 우리땅' 플래시 몹을 보면서 함께 춤추고 노래를 불러보는 것으로 캠프를 시작하였습니다. 학생들이 열심히 춤을 따라하고 노래도 따라 불렀습니다.
Teacher DaeJanggeum introduced the objective and goals of the camp. Quoting one of the greatest Korean historians Shin Chaeho, “People who forget the history of their country has no future," she emphasized the importance of learning history. After, teachers and leaders were introduced.
대장금 선생님이 캠프의 목적과 이유를 설명해 주셨고 역사학자 신채호 선생님이 말씀하신 “역사를 잃은 민족에게는 미래가 없다”는 말이 의미하듯이 역사를 배우는 것이 중요함을 강조하였습니다. 교사와 캠프 리더 소개가 이어졌습니다.
Teacher Arirang lectured about today’s theme, “Globalized Three Kingdoms.” As a preview question, she asked the students to list five things about the Three Kingdoms. After some discussion, the students gave their answers. She introduced Jangbogo as the King of the Sea. She also talked about the Silk road through which people exchanged goods, artifacts, books, and ideas between the Three Kingdoms and neighbor countries including Japan, China, India, and Arab countries.
“글로벌 삼국시대”라는 주제로 아리랑 선생님이 주제 강의를 해주셨습니다. 먼저 삼국시대에 대하여 아는 것을 5가지 말해보기라는 브레인 스토밍을 시작하였고 바다의 왕으로 알려진 장보고의 업적과 실크로드가 어디이고 삼국과 이웃 나라인 중국, 일본, 인도, 아라비아 나라들과는 무엇을 교류했는지를 살펴보았습니다.
After the lecture, all campers divided into four groups (One direction, Jikji, Seonbi and Obok) and did activities. Activities included Drawing Silk Road on a world map, Reading and role playing about Jangbogo, and exploring the culture, technology, and goods exchanged between the Three Kingdoms and neighbor countries.
During student presentation time, each team showed what they learned during the class. Each team did a good job preparing and presenting. The snack was related to today’s theme. Snow white rice cake and white kimchi were served.
강의 후에는 One Direction (호랑 선생님), 선비(정음 선생님), 직지(훈민 선생님), 오복(아리랑 선생님) 등의 4가지 반으로 나뉘어서 모둠 활동을 하였습니다. 학생 활동은 세계 지도에 실크로드를 그리기, 장보고 롤플레이, 삼국과 이웃 나라 간의 교역 내용 알아보기 등이었습니다. 학생 발표 시간에는 각 반에서 그동안 배운 내용을 중심으로 연극을 준비하였습니다. 학생들은 열심히 준비하여 많은 박수를 받았습니다. 오늘의 간식은 오늘 배운 주제와 관련된 백설기 떡과 백김치였습니다.
After all campers were dismissed, teachers and leaders got together to check-in and plan for tomorrow. Tomorrow’s theme is World-class printing country, Goryeo and the lecturer will be Teacher Hunmin. Thanks to all students who participated in the camp activity eagerly. 학생들이 모두 귀가한 후에 교사와 캠프 리더들이 모여서 내일의 주제와 계획을 논의하였습니다. 캠프 둘째 날의 강의 주제는 “세계적인 인쇄 대국 고려”이고 주제 강의는 훈민선생님이 하시게 됩니다. 열심히 강의와 활동에 참여해 준 모든 학생들과 헌신적인 교사와 리더들에게 진심으로 감사합니다.
